Mommy (by Tatum)

This blog goes out to my mom!!! She forces me to do this, but she has no idea I'm doing this right now!! She loves to write and I'm glad! She's the best mom in the world and I'm sorry for being so mean about the whole weird blogging thing!

At nearly 14, Tatum is gorgeous AND talented. She's a graceful athlete who plays on two soccer teams and is on her high school tennis team and dance team. She takes all honors classes and pulls off straight A's. She's trying to learn Spanish and she recently joined the speech and debate team. She's super creative and makes amazing scrapbooks--I love her interesting color schemes. And her witty writing always cracks me up. One of her greatest strengths is consistancy; by reading one chapter a night, she's already read the Book of Mormon twice and she writes in her journal daily. Her most exciting accomplishment of the year was winning 3rd place at the National History Day competition in Washington D.C. She is the best daughter ever and we couldn't be prouder of her.

Zach is 12 years old and just started Jr. High. He is an incredible athlete and his favorite sports are tennis, soccer and basketball. He's also in a choir and he's learning to play the trombone in his band class. He has a huge collection of valuable baseball cards, which he takes immaculate care of. He is also a smartie pants, scoring in the 97 percentile in the state for math. He's a critical thinker, and his English teacher says he's creative too, so I'll trust him on that. His strength is his quick wit and ability to blend with anyone. He's a total jokester and, word has it, he's the class clown. He's also the most persistent kid I've ever known and loves a challenge. His most impressive achievments this year included a bronze medal for tennis at the National Jr. Olympics skills competition in Chicago and 5th place in the nation in Washington D.C. for his History Day project on Jackie Robinson. On top of that the project earned him the History of Baseball Award with a prize of $500. Zach is a joy to have as a son. (And I'm not just saying that becuase of the prize $).

Wyatt is one of the twins. He's 10 years old and in 4th grade. He loves catching skanks and geckos and collecting rocks and crystals. To him everything is a treasure and a curiousity. It's part f his charm. He also loves loves loves food, which is the other part of his charm. Even though he's a hemophilic, he plays soccer, tennis, basketball and golf. He's a tough cookie, that kid. He gets poked in the vein twice a week without flinching and he can even poke himself (if he wants to). His strength lies in his ability to be intense and fun all at the same time. He's got the eye of the tiger, but what a soft tiger! I love making him smile and listening to him giggle. Nothing quite compares to watching him dance and hearing him sing at the top of his lungs when he's plugged into the ipod. He's extremely popular with the neighborhood brat pack because he looks out for all the little guys. Overall, he's just plain fascinating.

Garrett is Wyatt's twin brother. He loves all-things super soft, including down pillows and fleece blankets and he has a collection of little soft stuffed animals from all over the world. He is so affectionate and loving, and never hesitates to climb up on your lap and snuggle. His strength is his open heart. He's an open book. How refreshing is that? Last year he received the kindness citizenship award in his class and was recognized as a responsible student and class leader. He is also extremely coordinated and athletic. He placed 2nd in the Turkey Trot and won the state Jr. Olympics skills competition in rapid rally tennis. He plays basketball, tennis and soccer, but seems to favor golf. Garrett has a knack for physical comedy and his Nacho Libre impressions crack us up. You can be sure to catch a glimpse of his uninhibited dancing style at concerts and basketball games across campus. One thing is fo' sure, he's always a pleasure to be around.
